Legal Qualifications
Dr. Kohn is available for consultation as an expert witness to review and provide opinions in cases involving Traumatic Brain Injury.
His qualifications are outlined below:

Experience providing deposition and trial testimony as a treating physician and expert witness in Traumatic Brain Injury cases.

Board-certified in adult neurology by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, Dr. Kohn has been an active member of the American Academy of Neurology since 1987. He has re-certified three times and was granted Fellow of the American Academy of Neurology status in 2019, and is currently a member of the subsection on Sports Neurology since 2013.

An active member of the American Neuropsychiatry Association for nearly two decades and re-certified twice in the subspecialty of Neuropsychiatry and Behavioral Neurology.

He provided expert witness testimony in civil and criminal cases.

He has given clinical specialty presentations on Traumatic Brain Injury since 2003, and consulted with multiple schools in northern Illinois, advising coaches and parents regarding a timeline for students returning to athletics and possible learning issues following a concussion injury.

Dr. Kohn served two consecutive terms as President of the Chicago Neurology Society between 1999 and 2001.

He has a staff affiliation with Northwestern Memorial Hospital-McHenry since 1996 and Good Shephard Advocate Hospital-Barrington since 2013.

In 1991, he completed his residency in psychiatry at West Virginia School of Medicine and residency in neurology in 1993 at Rosalind Franklin Chicago Medical School’s affiliation with Cook County Hospital and Captain James Lovell North Chicago VA hospital.

He completed a modified nuclear medicine fellowship in brain SPECT at the University of Illinois/Chicago Hospital Department of Nuclear Medicine.

Dr. Kohn published studies on brain functional states using SPECT while a clinical associate professor, Department of Radiology, Division of Nuclear Energy, at the University of Illinois/Chicago.

He earned a medical degree at the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine, Ft. Worth Texas.

At age 16, he became an Eagle Scout while affiliated with Troop 452, Merrick, N.Y.
